The Cover Up: Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer Review

Lately I have been obsessed with concealer...amongst everything else. I have been getting so little sleep and have been suffering from the worst insomnia of my 29 years of life.
I do not have dark under eye circles or anything major however I do have lines under my eyes that tend to stick out like a sore thumb the days my insomnia is at its worst.
I have watched enough tutorials and got enough demo's in store and decided I must get a concealer a bit lighter then my skin-tone to brighten my under eye area.
As a makeup connoisseur I'm sure this sounds like common sense, but in all honesty I think that  look appears funny on me and never turns out how I like.
Long story short I read and seen rave reviews on the Nars Radiant Creamy concealer and decided to pick it up and jump into the pool of hype lol.

A few details about Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer:

  • Nars describes this concealer as a creamy concealer that helps to blur lines, imperfections and hide dark under eye circles while using light diffusing technology to create a smoother complexion.
  • The collection comes with 10 different shades that suit woman of the lightest skin tones to woman of darker skin tones.
  • The packaging is a slim and sleek plastic tube (15 ml) similar to Nars lip-glosses and comes with a doe-foot applicator to apply the product
  • Nars radiant creamy concealer is said to suit all skin types
  • The concealer is extremely creamy which allows for you to seamlessly and effortlessly blend it out with your fingers or a brush
  • The coverage of is medium to full coverage when layered
  • It has a beautiful satin finish that does leave the skin looking luminous and youthful
My Personal Experience:
  • I bought shade Amdande for a highlighting effect under the eye but it was a bit too yellow based for my skin, so I exchanged it for Cafe with was a perfect match (I'm Mac NW45 for reference)
  • This shade by no means can highlight your under eye if you are similar to my shade
  •  It actually is the exact skin tone match, however the thickness and creaminess of the product helps to conceal under my eye
  • For me it would crease and no matter what I tried! I would set it with a setting powder and within hours it creased under my eyes and settled into the wrinkles under my eye
  • The formulation is beautiful and the colours are also varied for all types of skin colours but I was disappointed at the continued creasing under the eye
  • I returned this concealer after trying to play with it in several ways and likely will just stick to my holy grail Mac prolong-wear concealer to avoid creasing
  • Nars radiant creamy concealer can be purchased at Sephora and The Bay and retails for $28 CAD
  • I would suggest if you are interested in purchasing this product to try it out in store a few times and see if it works for you
  • I am hoping that one day the formulation is improved because the actual product is beautiful
  • Many people say it works for them and is a holy grail so give it a shot

Face Perfection: Review for Makeup Forever Full Coverage Concealer

Using concealer is starting to become the key component in my makeup regime.
Although I have a few concealers in my stash I consider my "go to's" I am forever on the search for perfection.
My requirements might seem crazy but I just want a concealer that looks totally natural, covers up any flaws or darkness and lasts all day long, while looking like I have nothing on! Is that too much to ask?
I decided to bite the bullet and pick up Makeup Forevers Full coverage water proof concealer which costs a staggering $37 CAD.
Makeup Forever Full Cover Concealer #18 Chocolate
 The Review:

  • The packaging is a plastic tube that contains 15ml of product
  • MUFE included a tube that allows you to squeeze out product (brilliant because helps contain germs)
  • The product is FULL COVERAGE to the max! If you have dark marks or dark circles on your face or imperfections that must be completely covered this is the product for you.
  • The concealer dries very fast (I mean fast!!!) you must blend right away.
  • Works great under eyes. I had no creasing on the hot day I wore it out, however I did set it with Mac's Prep and Prime as well.
  • The waterproof feature I really enjoy because this sucker stays put
  • MUFE has 12 shades to choose from and I got the shade #18 Chocolate and there is a shade darker then that posted on MUFE's website
  • MUFE can be purchased in Sephora and freestanding Makeup Forever shops and MUFE website
  • This concealer is $37 CAD (Yikes)
Will I Repurchase?

Overall this is a good concealer, it works well but is probably suited for a person that has dark marks on the face, and dark under eye circles then myself.
I personally find it a little too heavy for my daily use but would recommend it if that is the coverage you are seeking.
I think the price is outrageous for what it is but I do imagine this product would last for a very long time considering the amount of product you will use (very little needed).
I doubt I will be re- purchasing this product again because the concealers I already have in my stash work for me better then this product.

Perfection in a Bottle: Concealer

Left to Right: Mac-Pro Longwear concealer, Mac Pro conceal and Correct Palette,Josie Maran Argan Blend Concealer, L.A. Girl Pro concealer
Perfection in a bottle is what I would like to call concealer. The nights when you partied a little too hard, had insomnia and barley slept, or plain old genetics (think dark circles, bags) and your face just looks exhausted. Dark bags and discolouration under the eye can age the face 5-6 years older then we are just because we didn't get all of our zz's. We have all had those moments we go into the mirror and look at ourselves thinking wow I look like I didn't sleep period. Ladies those moments are the time I go to my trusty friend: concealer. I never ever had to use concealer in all my years, but as the years fly by and age is starting to get the best of my skin I hate to even leave to anywhere special without a little bit on. Concealer can really help many situations. It is not strictly to conceal the under eye area, but many use it to conceal hair under the brow, highlight the brow, highlight parts of the face, contouring and concealing dark blemishes on the face. I have a stash of concealers as I built up my make up kit (for freelance makeup) and my own personal collection to use for varying looks and days. If you are starting up your personal makeup kit concealer is a must in your bag. I will tell you about a few of my favourites and how I tend to use them.

Top to Bottom: Mac Pro conceal and Correct Palette, Josie Maran Argan Blend Concealer, L.A. Girl Pro concealer, Mac-Pro Longwear concealer

  • Mac Pro Longwear concealer: This is my go to concealer to cover up any dark acne marks or blemishes I may have on my face. I get this color in my exact shade (NW45 for reference) and it covers up everything with a natural flawless look. This concealer is full to medium coverage. Literally a small pump of this concealer can cover your entire face so use it very carefully. I know some people who use this as a full coverage foundation this thing is amazing. The consistency is creamy and this thing does not budge, crease or move for up to 12 hrs in my experience. Mac has a large variety of shades to choose from. This can be purchased for $22 CAD at any Mac counter.
  • Josie Maran Argan Blend Concealer: Alright so if you have been keeping up with my blog I love argan oil and Ms Maran is a new brand I have been dabbling in. This concealer is now my favourite to put under my eyes to conceal dark circles. This concealer is medium to full coverage. The thing I love about this is that it has a peach color corrector that does magic. I sometimes only use the colour corrector and put my foundation right over it for a highlighted look. The concealer portion is beautiful and silky and blend-able on the skin and provides a natural look as well. There is also benefits of organic argan oil infused to provide nutrients to you skin, I'm in love. The shade I have is in "Chestnut" and it is a great match. This concealer can be purchased in Sephora for $36 CAD
  • Mac Pro Conceal and Correct Palette (dark NC45, NW45, NC50,NW55, Ochre, Pure Orange): This was a product I was debating back and forth about and then became very excited about purchasing. This I will admit is very useful in my kit because there are few colours I can use on clients of various skin tones. This concealer is creamy and easy to work with once it has been warmed up from the heat of your fingers. It works great under the eyes and doesn't crease if a setting powder is applied over it.It is also pretty good at concealing dark marks on the face. The color correctors are also very useful. The orange may seem scary but it cancels out any darkness on the skin better then any concealer will (color theory ladies) it is a very good value of $47.50 CAD but I would say it might be a better buy if you are using it professionally or really are a die hard concealer girl that likes the ability to mix.
  • L.A. Girl HD Concealer: (Cool tan, Warm honey, Toffee) This is the ultimate of values in my books for concealers because it is $2.50 US. Your really can't beat that pricing ladies. It is medium to full coverage and has a brush applicator to apply the product onto the skin. The color range is huge, so you can definitely find your match easily. L.A girl applies very well and has a creamy consistency. The brush applicator doesn't do much aside from place the product under your eye so you will need a makeup brush to buff it into the skin for a natural look. This is one of those products you don't want to sleep on because of its performance as well as its pricing. I ordered this product of Cherryculture.com and it shipped to Canada quickly. They can be purchased in Toronto as well at some beauty supply stores and discount beauty stores as well. All in all a really good product hands down.
Have you tried any of these concealers? Is there a concealer that you swear by that you would like to share? Any questions? Comment down below!
